Borage greens juice

Borage is an ancient herb. Long used as a medicinal herb, it grows tall and lusty in the meadows and at roadsides.

Starry blue borage blossoms as a showy and edible garnish for punch or juice, or candy.

Borage is hot and moist. When a person put borage juice on the silk and wrap that around his entire neck, over the back of his head, and to his ears, but not covering them, it will stop his ears from ringing.

Tender leaves used to make cool juice with added lemonade.

According to Pliny borage steeped in wine would raise men’s spirits and the soldier who drank from the cool tankard, ‘wine and water with lemon juice, spices and borage’ was assured of success in battle.

Syrup made of the juice of borage with sugar is good against swooning, the cardiac passion of the heart and falling sickness.

The juice was thought also good remedy for jaundice, itch and ringworm.
